Yes, we totally made a quick cookery video, because: SO HUNGRY! that’s why.
So, while you’re waiting for our next AA article, the next episode of Ultra Frontier Explorer, or our next music or movie review – here’s a quick, cheap recipe you can cook up in one pan, that’s versatile enough to be the basis of a whole lot of different meals:
It’s a soup! It’s a sauce for spaghetti, rice, cous-cous, cracked wheat, noodles or dumplings! Make it bland or hot, maybe even chilli-hot, or turn it into curry or goulash! It is ALL THE DINNERS IN ONE! Dun-dun-duuunnnn!!
Also, there’s a science part! This recipe is deliberately designed to help extract curcumin from the spice turmeric and make it available for your body to absorb. This is probably good, because: curcumin is currently being investigated by various scientists and clinicians worldwide for various suspected health benefits, including anti-cancer and anti-arthritis effects.
Check out the finished meal… Looks tasty, eh? Damn, so hungry now!
Onion, brocoli (or your choice of green thing), olive oil, turmeric (a bright yellow spice, stains everything if you’re not careful where you sprinkle it), black pepper, cayenne pepper, tomato puree (tomato paste for Americans), cous-cous (or your carb of choice e.g.s rice, pasta…), tuna fish (or your protein of choice e.g.s corned-beef, peanuts…) optional lemon juice, salt and or worcestershire sauce to taste.
Less than £2 = Less than $3 US to feed two people.
About 15mins, depending on the greens or carb you choose. A bit less than 15mins if you do cous-cous.
1 knife, 1 chopping board, 1 pan, 1 wooden spoon, 1 hob, optional- 1 kettle.
